Fresh products, local sourcing, and a return to classics – this is how the MENY chain sees food trends in 2025. Norwegian consumers are increasingly choosing fresh products, local goods, and traditional dishes. The retail chain points to specific categories where clear growth has been recorded.

Norwegian Stew, Chicken, and Pasta Take the Lead

Data from meny.no shows changes in Norwegians’ culinary choices. The most searched-for dinner dish in 2025 was lapskaus, a traditional Norwegian stew.

Four out of the five most popular recipes included chicken. Four out of the ten most searched-for dishes were pasta-based. Other hot dishes, including roasted pork knuckle, were also in high demand.

Protein and Natural Sweetness

The trend for protein-rich products continued in 2025. Chia seeds, cottage cheese, and Greek yogurt have all gained popularity.

Among sweet snacks, there has been increased interest in dates and dried fruits. The range has been expanded to include new varieties, including products made from frozen and freeze-dried berries. These products are gradually becoming a permanent part of MENY stores’ assortment.
