Imports of goods to Norway in the months leading up to Christmas show which gifts are most likely to end up under the tree in 2025. The analysis covers the period from September to November.
The most commonly imported gifts remain headphones, mobile phones, and speakers. These three products top this year's list, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (SSB).

According to the data, interest in electronics remains stable, indicating consistent consumer preferences. Audio equipment once again ranks high in import statistics.

Growing Demand for Styling Devices

A significant increase was recorded in the category of electric hair care devices. During the analyzed period, their import exceeded NOK 70 million.

This is a twofold increase compared to 2022. Hair styling devices are increasingly making it onto gift lists. This trend has continued for several years.

Less Sports Equipment Before Christmas

The situation is different when it comes to sports equipment. Imports of downhill skis dropped by 16%, and cross-country skis by 21% compared to the same period last year.

An even greater decline was seen in snowboards, with imports falling by 79%. The data indicates less interest in winter sports equipment before Christmas.

Fragrances, Christmas Trees, and Citrus Fruits from Abroad

At the same time, imports of perfumes and Christmas accessories increased. The value of imported fragrances reached NOK 400 million, twice as much as in 2022.

Norway also received 75,000 Christmas trees, mainly from Denmark, and Christmas decorations worth NOK 235 million, almost exclusively from China.

Among food products, citrus fruits dominated. Clementines accounted for 95% of imports, with a total volume of 10,500 tons.
