November brought one of the best new car sales results in the history of the Norwegian market. According to data from the Norwegian Road Traffic Information Council (OFV), 19,899 new passenger cars were registered, marking a year-on-year increase of 70.2%. The share of electric cars reached 97.6%. The dynamic growth is driven by anticipated tax changes and improved model availability.
Tesla recorded its strongest month in several years. In November, 6,215 new cars of the brand were registered, giving it a 31.2% market share. In all of 2025, Tesla has already delivered 28,606 cars, surpassing its own record from 2023 as well as Volkswagen's previous result from 2016.
The next spots were taken by Volkswagen with 2,198 registrations, Volvo with 1,867, and BMW with 1,104 new cars. Chinese brands such as BYD, MG, and XPeng did not make it into the November top list, although their combined volume is steadily increasing.

SUVs dominate model statistics
The dominance of SUVs continued in November. Tesla Model Y and Model 3, with 3,648 and 2,562 registrations respectively, topped the ranking. They were followed by the Volvo EX40 and Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.7.

Strong growth in the van segment
The commercial vehicle market also saw a significant increase. In November, 2,479 new vans were registered, representing a year-on-year growth of 31.7%. Electric models accounted for 47.9% of registrations, approaching the diesel share of 50.7%.

Chance for a record-breaking end of the year
By the end of November, 144,362 new passenger cars had hit Norwegian roads, an increase of 25.5% compared to 2024. The share of electric cars for all of 2025 stands at 95.5%, and the market has already exceeded the lower threshold of OFV's forecast of 140,000–150,000 registrations.
