Norwegians Want to 'Push Out' Diesels and Gas Cars. A Surge in Listings

In April 2026, used cars were listed on the FINN platform for an average of 31 days before being marked as sold. The average price of used cars dropped by 0.7 percent compared to the previous month. Terje Dahlgren, a FINN market expert, points out that demand remains strong. According to him, prices are influenced by the large number of cars available on the market.
Combustion Cars Return to Listings. More and More People Want to Sell Them
In April 2026, electric cars accounted for 33 percent of all listings on FINN. The number of new ads for electric cars dropped by 2 percent compared to the previous month. The average price of an electric car was 334,986 NOK. At the same time, FINN recorded an increase in the number of combustion engine cars being put up for sale.
In March, the number of new listings for combustion engine cars rose by 20 percent. For electric cars, the increase was 12 percent. Dahlgren believes that some owners want to sell their combustion engine cars before demand weakens further. He also points to drivers switching to new or newer electric cars.

These Cars Are Being Put Up for Sale. There’s Only One King
The Volkswagen Golf was the most viewed model on FINN in April. It was followed by the Volvo XC60 and Nissan Leaf. The top ten also included the Tesla Model Y, BMW 3 Series, and BMW 5 Series. The list was completed by the Mitsubishi Outlander, Tesla Model 3, Volvo XC40, and Toyota Yaris.
Dahlgren notes that the Golf is available with various types of powertrains: gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and electric. This increases its appeal among used car buyers. According to FINN, both electric cars and models with traditional engines are performing well.
Dahlgren also points to another market factor. Many electric car owners are holding onto their vehicles for longer. This limits the number of such cars in the listings. At the same time, rising prices of new electric cars may push some buyers toward the used market. In the coming months, this is where the changing choices of Norwegian drivers may become most apparent.
