Norway's Diesel and Gasoline Market Collapses. Spectacular Record Set Among the Fjords
Norway once again breaks the record for the share of electric cars in total transactions. In April, it reached 98.6 percent. This is the second consecutive month with a similar result.
Electric cars now make up over one third of the entire fleet in Norway.

The new passenger car market in Norway is now almost entirely electric. In every region, the share of such vehicles has exceeded 95 percent. Data shows continued growth in interest in electric powertrains, reports the Norwegian Road Traffic Information Council (OFV).
Record Share. The Whole Country at a High Level
In April, 11,103 new passenger cars were registered. This is 1.6 percent less than a year earlier. At the same time, the share of electric cars rose to 98.6 percent. That's 1.7 percent more year-on-year and a new monthly record.
In every region of the country, the result exceeded 95 percent. The highest was in Østfold at 99.3 percent. The lowest was recorded in Finnmark, where it reached 95.1 percent. Very few combustion cars were registered: 87 diesels and 31 gasoline cars.

Volkswagen sold the most cars. The ID.4 model was the most popular choice in Norway. Toyota and BMW followed in the rankings. Tesla had a weaker month, with 379 registrations and 11th place. For the whole year, it maintains a 20.4 percent market share.
The commercial vehicle market is growing, according to OFV data. In April, 1,991 such vehicles were registered, an increase of 18.2 percent compared to a year earlier. The share of electric vehicles was 55.8 percent. Meanwhile, in the used car market, the number of transactions fell by 1.1 percent. The share of electric cars rose to 30.4 percent, up 26.4 percent year-on-year.

Despite very high sales of new electric cars, most vehicles on Norwegian roads are still not fully electric. There are over 2.9 million passenger cars registered in the country. Electric cars account for 33.5 percent, with the rest mainly being diesel and gasoline vehicles.
