New documents released by the United States Department of Justice reveal the scale of Jeffrey Epstein's international connections. The materials also mention the names of Norwegian politicians, diplomats, and a member of the royal family.
The U.S. Department of Justice has released over three million documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. The publication includes correspondence, meeting records, and archival materials. These documents are said to be the final part of the files required to be disclosed. Among them are details about Epstein's relationships with individuals and institutions from Norway.

Epstein's Connections with the Norwegian Elite

The files contain information about Jeffrey Epstein's contacts with Crown Princess Mette-Marit. Email correspondence took place between 2011 and 2014. These contacts continued after Epstein's 2008 settlement. The documents indicate regular exchanges. The princess, among other things, spent holidays at his house in Palm Beach, Florida.

The materials also mention Thorbjørn Jagland. While he was head of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, a family trip to Epstein's private island was planned. The visit by Jagland did not take place. However, his family did stay at Epstein's residence in Palm Beach, Florida.

The documents also point to Epstein's contacts with former Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende. The materials include exchanges of messages and meetings in 2018–2019. During this period, Brende was associated with the World Economic Forum. The correspondence covered issues concerning international institutions.

The files also describe Epstein's relationships with Norwegian diplomat Terje Rød-Larsen. These included both personal and financial contacts. Epstein granted Rød-Larsen a private loan in 2013. He was also a donor to the International Peace Institute, which received funds from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The disclosed documents show that Epstein's contacts with Norwegian representatives occurred many years after his first legal troubles. The materials are currently being analyzed by media and institutions in various countries. In Norway, they concern both public figures and the state's relations with international organizations.
