Oslo Airport is once again opening a parking area for dog owners on New Year's Eve. Avinor is offering a free parking spot at the former terminal area. The solution is intended to provide a calm environment for animals during the New Year celebrations. The parking will be available all night from December 31 to January 1.
Oslo Airport is repeating its 2024 initiative and once again making a parking area available for dogs and their owners. The area is located away from buildings and fireworks displays.

No rockets are launched in the airport area. As a result, this location is one of the calmest places in eastern Norway on New Year's Eve.

Where and under what conditions?

Parking will be free on New Year's Eve and New Year's night. The airport is opening zones P83 and P84, located on Hans Gaarders Veg, near the GA terminal.

The area will be cleared of snow and prepared in advance. The space is intended for a peaceful stay and for walking dogs.

Complementing other offers

According to Monica Fasting, head of communications at Oslo Airport, the initiative addresses the real needs of dog owners. For many animals, New Year's Eve is associated with severe stress.

The offer is intended to complement commercial hotel options with soundproofed rooms for dogs. The parking can be used without registration and at any time. Avinor reminds users to clean up after their pets.

Every year, Oslo Airport confiscates large amounts of fireworks

Staff emphasize the rules for air travel safety. Fireworks and sparklers are considered explosive materials.

They are not allowed in either carry-on or checked luggage. Every year, such items are confiscated at Oslo Airport.
