On April 13, 2026, in Oslo, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz met with Norway's Minister of Defense Tore O. Sandvik. The talks concerned the security situation in Europe. Issues discussed included hybrid warfare, airspace violations, and incidents in the Baltic Sea. The importance of cooperation within NATO and bilateral initiatives was emphasized.
Joint response to threats
Polish-Norwegian relations are of a strategic partnership nature. The talks addressed threats arising from the actions of the Russian Federation and its neo-imperial policy. Cases of sabotage and disinformation were highlighted. It was emphasized that Poland has been facing attacks on critical infrastructure, airspace violations, and incidents in the Baltic for several years. The need for a joint response by NATO countries was stressed.
Incidents involving drones were also discussed. It was noted that last year Copenhagen was repeatedly threatened, affecting air traffic safety. Norway brings experience in maritime operations and satellite reconnaissance. These competencies are used on NATO's northern flank. Norway has also joined the Polish strategy to build a new security architecture for the Baltic Sea.

Development of capabilities and industrial cooperation
During the meeting, the importance of Norway's support for Poland was emphasized. Norwegian F-35s and NASAMS systems protect Polish airspace, including the Rzeszów-Jasionka airport. This facility plays a key role in transferring aid to Ukraine. The parties discussed further training and interoperability of F-35 systems in Europe. Cooperation in this area is to be further developed.
The SAN program was discussed. The project covers air defense, missile defense, and anti-drone defense. It is being developed by a consortium of companies: Kongsberg, PGZ, and APS. The system integrates sensors, a management system, and kinetic and electronic warfare measures. This is a project of unprecedented scale in Europe. Its role as an export product for allied countries is being considered.
The talks also covered cooperation in the space, maritime, aviation, and cyber domains. Poland and Norway are developing joint projects in these areas. Last year, a strategic agreement on cybersecurity was signed. There are plans to accelerate investments in the defense industry and the development of new technologies.
