Distorted menacing beats forewarn of a primal danger. At a precise moment in the story, trust is established...one that is unnatural. The nefarious beats fade until the realization that when an instinct (to harm) is suppressed, the unintended result is that another instinct (of self-preservation) may also vanish. Trouble returns...
