Equinor announces that not a single oil field on the Norwegian Continental Shelf will be left unexploited. The energy giant intends to utilize every source that proves profitable. The company is already declaring further exploration and extraction worth tens of billions of kroner annually.
Equinor's management points to the continuation of exploration work and the pursuit of extracting resources up to the limits of profitability and technical feasibility, so that no recoverable oil volumes are left behind on the Norwegian shelf. The company will maintain oil and gas production for as long as possible, given operational and market conditions, according to E24.
CFO Torgrim Reitan emphasizes that these declarations refer to extraction policy on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, and the phrase 'no oil left behind' pertains to oil that can realistically and efficiently be recovered. Equinor managers' statements are rooted in the ongoing strategy of intensifying exploration and extending the life of existing fields.

Equinor Aims to Manage Oil and Emissions Wisely
Alongside announcements about fully utilizing oil fields, there is also information regarding CO₂ storage as part of the Northern Lights project, which provides a technological context for shelf operations. Equinor signals that the first volumes of carbon dioxide have been injected beneath the seabed in the Øygarden area, as part of infrastructure supporting the transition and emissions management.
The giant is linking extraction with the development of carbon dioxide storage services. Equinor indicates that it is building a broader context for its shelf activities, encompassing both hydrocarbon extraction and projects related to storing harmful substances resulting from field exploitation.

The company highlights its official stance, suggesting that Equinor will strive to extract everything that is technically possible and profitable from the area under Norwegian jurisdiction. Further exploration will also be shaped around this premise. These efforts are to be intensified in areas where infrastructure already facilitates the extraction of oil and gas.
