Training and Support for Brigades
Last year, Norway allocated about NOK 10 billion to Operation Legio. The support includes equipment donations and purchases from the defense industry. In total, the provided equipment is equivalent to about two brigades. Both enlisted personnel and officers of the Ukrainian army are trained at the base. Norwegian and allied instructors conduct both practical and theoretical classes.
During the visit, the Norwegian and Polish prime ministers also held a bilateral meeting. Discussions focused on defense and energy cooperation. Norway is a key gas supplier to Poland. In 2025, both countries agreed to establish a strategic energy partnership.
On the Norwegian side, the operation involves capabilities within Brigade Nord, including infantry, mechanized units, artillery, engineering, medical services, logistics, as well as command and communications components.
