One in three Norwegians believes that technological development is advancing too quickly to keep up with the changes. At the same time, one in four points out that unequal access to technology deepens social divisions. These are the findings of an Elkjøp survey on digital exclusion.
The survey shows that the problem affects broad social groups. 31 percent of respondents say that technology has become so complicated that it is difficult to keep up with it.
25 percent believe that technological development increases class differences. Meanwhile, 24 percent of people under the age of 29 declare that digitalization makes them feel more lonely.

Children and Parents Facing Digital Challenges
Digital exclusion also affects children and families. 18 percent of Norwegian parents declare that their children have experienced discrimination, bullying, or exclusion related to online gaming. 42 percent of parents admit they have difficulty controlling their children's digital lives.
The survey also indicates that 19 percent of respondents fear losing their jobs to artificial intelligence. Elkjøp points out that these problems also occur in a highly digitalized society.

A Million Kroner to Fight Exclusion
Elkjøpfondet has been operating since 2017 and has so far donated over NOK 6 million to organizations and associations in Norway. The funds go to entities supporting people who lack sufficient resources, access, or technological knowledge.
Currently, the fund is seeking new projects that can help reduce digital inequalities. A pool of NOK 1 million will be divided among five regions of the country.
