Meteorologists emphasize that forecasts for Christmas Eve are exceptionally uncertain, with a wider range of possible scenarios than usual. The latest analyses suggest both chances for frost and the possibility of continued mild and wet weather.
Meteorologist Marek Ratajczak from the Meteorological Institute clearly points out that there are no simple answers for now. Even forecasts a week ahead carry a high level of uncertainty, making it difficult to determine whether snow will last during the holiday period.
The models observed so far do not show a dominant direction for how the situation will develop. The only thing that is certain is that there are many scenarios, each with similar chances.

Mild Weather in the South, Wintry in the North
Long-term forecasts recently suggested an exceptionally cold winter, but so far, severe frosts have not arrived. In many regions of the country, the weather has been mild, gray, and rainy. Ratajczak reports that such conditions may persist for at least the next two weeks, especially in the southern part of the country.
In northern Norway, the chances for subzero temperatures are higher, favoring a wintry landscape. However, this does not change the fact that conditions remain variable throughout the country.

The North Favored for Wintry Weather
At the moment, it is the north that remains the favorite for wintry conditions. In regions such as Troms and Finnmark, temperatures remain below zero, and additional snowfall is forecast for December 3.
According to the meteorologist, more clear spells are also possible in the northern regions at the end of the week. In the rest of the country, rubber boots are more common than winter shoes, especially on the west coast. Models indicate the possibility of drier periods as the next week approaches.

Christmas Eve with Over 50 Weather Variants
When it comes to Christmas Eve, the uncertainty is even greater. Ratajczak has published an animation showing over 50 possible weather variants for December 24. The range of forecasts covers everything—from 30 degrees below zero inland to 10 degrees above zero on the coast.
However, the meteorologist avoids making definitive statements about a white Christmas. He only emphasizes that there are currently no clear signals either for or against a white Christmas.

Winter Hope Despite Weather Uncertainty
The meteorologist adds that despite the lack of clear forecasts, it’s not worth giving up hope for a wintry atmosphere. Changes in the models can appear at any moment, and December weather often surprises even the experts.
One thing is certain: the final shape of the holiday weather will remain unknown until the last days before Christmas Eve. It’s worth keeping an eye on the latest weather updates, as this December promises to be exceptionally dynamic.
