A meeting dedicated to the Polish diaspora was held on Saturday, July 25, at the Center for Dialogue of Cultures in Węgrów, Mazowieckie Voivodeship. It was part of the "Thinking Poland: Alternative 2.0" series, within which PiS is discussing program proposals. The party had previously organized conferences on, among other topics, agriculture, healthcare, defense, education, the economy, and local government. The name of the series refers to program conventions from 2015, 2019, and 2025.
New ministry. Gliński announces inclusion of the proposal in the program
PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński and party vice-president Przemysław Czarnek were scheduled to speak at the event, but ultimately did not take the floor. Instead, Piotr Gliński, chairman of the PiS program council, spoke on their behalf and informed that this was the 15th meeting in the current series. The main topic of the conference was the state's policy towards the Polish diaspora and Poles living abroad.
Gliński stated that Poland should actively support Polish communities abroad and involve their representatives in shaping the country's future. Therefore, he announced the creation of the Ministry of the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad. The proposal is to be included in the PiS program. The politician did not provide details about the planned ministry's competences or structure during the meeting.
15 more conferences. Then PiS will present its program
PiS plans to organize another 15 meetings as part of the "Thinking Poland: Alternative 2.0" series. In total, there will be 30 program conferences. Gliński announced that after their completion, the party will present a program based on solutions developed during the discussions. The document is to be used in the upcoming election campaign.
The former deputy prime minister also spoke about the need to update the program as political and social conditions change. According to him, every party should prepare new proposals before elections. Gliński also declared that PiS usually fulfills 90 percent of its promises. This was a statement made by the politician during the conference.
The meeting in Węgrów marked the halfway point of the planned series of conferences. PiS still has 15 debates ahead, covering further areas of state activity. Only after their completion will the full program assumptions be presented, including details of the proposals concerning the Polish diaspora.
