Oslo has recorded the warmest December night in the history of measurements. The record was set from December 14 to 15, according to data from the Meteorological Institute (Meteorologisk Institutt). The temperature did not drop below 6.9 degrees.
The Norwegian Meteorological Institute reported that this is the highest December night temperature ever measured in Oslo. The previous record was 6.7 degrees, set on December 20, 2015. Temperature measurements at the Blindern station have been conducted continuously since 1937.

Weather Warnings in the Country

Exceptionally mild weather is also occurring in other parts of Norway. An orange flood warning has been issued for parts of Rogaland and Agder.

A crisis team has been established in the municipality of Sokndal due to rising water levels. The mayor has appealed to parents to keep their children at home.

December Without Winter Weather

In Oslo, the streets remain snowless. The current conditions do not indicate a quick arrival of winter weather. December has been mild and cloudy, with little snowfall in the capital. This is confirmed by current meteorological observations.

According to meteorologists, low-pressure activity will continue. This means mild weather will prevail. On-duty meteorologist Rebecca Roggentin reported that no significant changes are expected in the near future, especially for Oslo.
