The Norwegian krone remains historically weak against major currencies, but compared to the rest of 2025, current rates are clearly better than in previous months. The krone is staying below the so-called psychological barrier against the US dollar. For most of September, the exchange rate has not exceeded 10.00 NOK.
The USD/NOK rate remains high from a historical perspective, confirming the krone's continued weak position. Compared to the rest of 2025, current levels look better than in previous weeks. The Norwegian krone is valued at around 9.94, reflecting a clear drop from this year's highs and stabilization below the psychological 'ten.'
On a monthly scale, the dollar has depreciated by over 2.30%. It is also more than 12.50% cheaper than on January 1. Over the long term, it performs better than the Norwegian krone. Over the past five years, it has appreciated by more than 7.0%.

Euro Stronger Than the Dollar
The EUR/NOK rate also indicates a historically weak krone, but compared to the beginning of 2025, the current rates look better. The current figures are around 11.66–11.67, which is below the winter peaks and close to the fluctuation range of the past week.
Throughout 2025, this is a relatively more favorable level for NOK than in January, although in the long term, the EUR/NOK staying above 11.5 confirms ongoing pressure on the krone and its historical weakness against the euro.

Norwegian Krone Exchange Rate Against the Polish Zloty
The NOK/PLN comparison remains positive for recipients in Poland and negative for Poles working by the fjords and sending part of their salary back home. This highlights the krone's long-term weakness. Compared to 2025, the current result is clearly better than at the turn of December and January.
The current level is about 2.74 NOK for 1.00 PLN, consistent with recent rates and historical comparisons. Throughout 2025, this is a more favorable indication for the Norwegian currency than in January, although from a multi-year perspective, the krone remains historically weak against the zloty.
