A Norwegian woman in her thirties has been convicted of serious tax fraud after failing to pay tax on income of around NOK 4.8 million. She earned the money through her activity on the OnlyFans platform over three years.
According to the Trøndelag court, the woman did not report her income to the Tax Office between 2019 and 2021. As a result, she failed to pay more than NOK 1.9 million in taxes. Court documents show that she sold sexually explicit content via the OnlyFans platform to subscribers worldwide. Her defense attorney argued that the accused did not know how to report her income or keep records of her business activity.

Harsh Penalty for Tax Fraud in Norway

In addition to a prison sentence, the court imposed a fine of nearly NOK 200,000 on the woman. Of the eleven months in prison, five months were conditionally suspended, meaning she will actually serve six months.

According to Norwegian law, serious tax offenses can be punished with up to six years in prison. The convicted woman has been given time to decide whether to appeal. The verdict is not final.

Is OnlyFans Income Not Taxable?

The woman explained that she did not know how to calculate the tax due, how to register her business, or what obligations apply to people running online businesses. However, in its justification, the court stated that she should have been aware that her income was subject to taxation.

The court found that the nature and scale of the negligence made the case particularly serious. The amount involved and the systematic avoidance of tax reporting were key factors in determining the sentence.
