A significant cold snap is approaching Norway. After days with above-normal temperatures, forecasts predict a notable drop in thermometer readings starting Friday. In some regions, snowfall and frost are possible.
In the first half of the week, high pressure over the North Sea ensures dry and sunny conditions in the southern part of the country. Meteorologists warn that even though daytime temperatures are exceeding 10°C, from Friday temperatures will shift to levels more typical for October.

Nighttime frosts are expected in the north. Snowfall is possible in the mountains. Similar conditions may occur locally in other parts of Norway.

Northern Norway: October Weather

On Wednesday, a low-pressure system will move into the northern part of the country, bringing rain and fog. In Troms and Finnmark, strong wind gusts of up to 20–25 m/s may occur. Weather warnings may be issued.

Additionally, a colder northwesterly wind will blow, deepening the temperature drop and increasing the likelihood of precipitation. This time, not as rain, but as snow.

Although winter weather will not cover the entire country immediately, meteorologists emphasize that the start of winter is only declared after days with an average daily temperature at or below zero. The autumn season is still in effect, although conditions may increasingly resemble those typical of winter.
