Travelling by train in Norway? Strike and Oslo S closure will disrupt the weekend
On Friday, 9 October, a train drivers' strike is causing the cancellation of some Vy trains. On Saturday, Oslo S will also be closed due to track works. The changes also affect journeys to Gardermoen Airport.
Before travelling, check the entire route, including transfers and the last return connection.

According to Vy's Friday announcement, all services scheduled for that day have been cancelled on the R14 Asker-Kongsvinger line. Around 70 per cent of trains will not run on the RE10 Drammen-Lillehammer line.
The disruptions also affect other lines. Before leaving home, check your specific connection in the Vy app. During the strike, the journey planner shows trains that are running, while cancelled services disappear from it.
Oslo S to close on Saturday
On Saturday, 10 October, train traffic through Oslo S is scheduled to be suspended. The closure will last until 4:00 a.m. on Sunday. Then, from 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, the Oslo S-Lysaker section will be closed. Due to the works, Vy is operating replacement buses or directing passengers to Ruter public transport. The solution depends on the route. The operator recommends allowing an extra 30-60 minutes for your journey. The replacement bus may depart earlier than the train normally would.
Flying to Poland? Check how to get there
For Vy passengers travelling to Gardermoen, direct buses will be provided from Oslo S and Skøyen. Check the departure time and location for your chosen connection. Please note: buses operated because of the track works do not mean that a replacement service will be available for every cancelled train. Vy does not provide replacement transport for trains cancelled due to the strike.
Changes towards Torp from Monday as well
From 12 October to 22 November, works on the Vestfold Line will change travel on the RE11 line. Replacement buses will operate between Asker and Stokke. On the Stokke-Skien section, some trains will depart 30 minutes earlier than usual. This is also important for people planning to travel via Torp station. Before travelling, check the entire route, including transfers and the last return connection. Sources: Vy, Bane NOR. Information current as of 9 October 2026.
