They fled from Oslo by ferry to Poland. They stole gold worth several hundred thousand
Two men suspected of robbing a jewellery store in Oslo were arrested in Gdynia. According to Norwegian reports, the perpetrators allegedly threatened an employee with a knife and stole gold worth several hundred thousand NOK. Less than a day later, the 31- and 37-year-olds were already in the hands of the Polish police.

The robbery took place on 1 October 2026 in Oslo. According to information provided by the Norwegian side, two Romanian citizens entered a jewellery store, where they allegedly jointly threatened an employee with a knife. They then took gold items. After the robbery, they drove away in a Volkswagen, and further findings indicated that they boarded a ferry bound for Gdynia.

Information about the suspects quickly reached Poland. The SIRENE Bureau in Norway (SIRENE) passed it on to the International Communication Centre Section of the International Police Cooperation Bureau of the National Police Headquarters (KGP), and then to police officers in Gdynia and the Border Guard. Officers began operations. They confirmed that the wanted men were on board a ferry heading to the Polish port.
The ferry was due to arrive in Gdynia in the early morning. Police also determined that after disembarking, the men did not intend to continue their journey by car. They planned to travel on by bus. Officers prepared to make the arrests before the vessel arrived at the port.

The arrests took place on 2 October at around 7:15 a.m. on Polska Street in Gdynia. Police officers detained the 31- and 37-year-old Romanian citizens, who were wanted in connection with a European Arrest Warrant. Less than a day had passed since the robbery in Oslo. Both men were placed in police custody.
During the operation, officers secured 49 gold chains. They also found a silver chain, a brooch, and a watch face with pendants. Cash in Romanian and Norwegian currency, three mobile phones and two SIM cards were also secured. Police also secured clothing belonging to the detainees.
Later on 2 October, the case was brought before the court at the request of the District Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk. Both men were placed in pre-trial detention for two months. The Polish police, the Border Guard and services responsible for the international exchange of information took part in the operation.
