Electric cars are gaining strength on the used car market. This is how much used models cost

In July, electric cars accounted for 33 percent of all used car listings on the FINN platform. Their average price was 348,215 NOK, and the number of offers remained similar to June levels. At the same time, the entire Norwegian used car market maintained stable activity in the middle of summer.

July did not bring major changes to the Norwegian used car market. The average price of cars marked as sold on FINN was 258,400 NOK, which is 0.7 percent more than in June. On average, it took 29 days to sell a car. The data also shows the growing presence of electric cars among the offers available to buyers.

Prices remain stable. Volvo XC60 in the lead

The market remained active even during the holidays. In July, there was a balance between the number of available cars and buyer interest, without major changes typical for the summer months. The average price increased only slightly. Cars found buyers on average after 29 days.

The most frequently listed model was the Volvo XC60. The next place went to the Nissan Leaf, and the top four also included the Tesla Model Y and Tesla Model 3. Electric cars thus took three of the top four positions. Terje Dahlgren, a FINN market expert, points out that market activity remains at a good level throughout the summer.
Among new cars, electric vehicles are expected to make up 100 percent of the fleet, according to government targets.

Electric cars increase their share. Autumn may bring more offers

Electric cars accounted for 33 percent of all used car listings on FINN in July. Their average price was 348,215 NOK, and the number of listings dropped by only 0.6 percent compared to June. Electric vehicles thus remain a large part of the available offer. Their presence is also visible among the most frequently listed models.

The used car market may also be influenced by the situation in new car sales. Dahlgren points out that the expected change in the VAT limit for new electric cars from 2027 may encourage some customers to buy earlier. This, in turn, may increase the number of cars traded in and later appearing on the secondary market. Additional sources of supply are cars returning after the end of leasing and vehicles handed over by drivers switching from combustion models to electric ones.
The data comes from Dealer Hub and the FINN platform and covers July 2026 compared to June. Statistics on the most popular models and electric cars include both private and dealer listings. They show the number of offers and prices from listings, not the confirmed number of transactions.
