Attack on Norwegian Parliament website. Pro-Russian hackers claim responsibility
The website of the Norwegian Parliament (Stortinget) is experiencing availability issues. The pro-Russian hacking group „Server Killers” claims to be behind the DDoS attack. The hackers said the operation would last three hours.
There have previously been attacks and attempted attacks on Norwegian ministries and government offices.

The issues affecting the service on September 14 are not constant. At times, the Storting website can be opened, while moments later it becomes unavailable. The „Server Killers” group announced the attack on Telegram. Stortinget is currently investigating the matter.

According to the declaration by „Server Killers”, this is a DDoS attack. It involves a very large number of devices simultaneously sending enormous traffic to a selected website or service. This can make access to the service difficult. Such issues are currently occurring on the Storting website. Access to it is available periodically.

„Server Killers” is a pro-Russian hacking group active since 2023. It is known primarily for denial-of-service attacks targeting state institutions and public services. In September, the group also reported attacks on Norwegian universities and higher education institutions. It also communicated its activities via Telegram at that time.
At the end of August, „Server Killers” declared a „cyberwar” against Norway. The group then gave reasons for its decision. It cited Norway's support for Ukraine and cooperation between the two countries in defence and security. The current incident involving the Storting website therefore followed the group's earlier actions targeting Norwegian institutions.

For now, Stortinget is verifying the circumstances surrounding the website issues. VG's report has not provided official confirmation that „Server Killers” is indeed behind the disruptions. At present, the information about responsibility for the attack comes from the hacking group itself.
