A Wajda Film with a Live Concert
“Innocent Sorcerers,” released in 1960, tells the story of a meeting between Bazyli, a young doctor and jazz musician, and Pelagia. Night-time conversations, flirting and mutual provocations form a story about the search for intimacy in post-war Warsaw. During the screening, the film’s music will be performed by a five-piece ensemble comprising Albert Karch, Miłosz Pieczonka, Ignacy Wendt, Stanisław Pańta and Piotr Domagalski. The arrangements preserve the character of Komeda’s compositions while also leaving room for jazz improvisation. The event is part of the celebrations of the Year of Andrzej Wajda, marking the 100th anniversary of the director’s birth. It is organised in cooperation with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, with the support of the Documentary and Feature Film Studios and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Oslo.
