Z czasem stały się przedmiotem badań etnografów i historyków. Podobnie \Skarga Umierającego\. Jest to pieśń żałobna, której korzenie sięgają nawet XV wieku. Przypuszcza się, że słowa trafiły do Polski z terenów Czech. Jej najbardziej znane wersje to wersja z okolic Płocka oraz z Wrocławia. Co ciekawe, ta wersja wykonywana przez zespół pochodzi z terenów dzisiejszych Katowic i nawiązuje do obydwu wyżej wymienionych.
